Creating Art & Sharing Love Since 2009

Gucci x Kubrick

I feel like since Karl Lagerfeld left us, fashion films haven't been the same. At least until the latest campaigns created by Alessandro Michele from Gucci. I've shared a particle one I love for the Gucci Bloom perfume a few years ago and now I can't let the AW22 fashion campaign pass without mentioning it too.

Gucci’s new campaign features perfect recreations of scenes from all of our favorite Stanley Kubrick films like ‘The Shining’, ‘A Clockwork Orange’, 'Eyes wide shut' and more as a tribute to the genius and legendary filmmaker... Titled Exquisite, the new film and print campaign includes designs from Gucci’s recent collaboration with Adidas which you can shop here. Have you seen it yet? Any thoughts? Take a look below at the images and watch the campaign too.

Lensed and directed by photographic duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, with art direction by Michele’s long-time collaborator Christopher Simmonds, the campaign features replicas of original costume designs curated by Milena Canonero and Charlotte Walter. The sets, designed by Gideon Ponte, precisely replicate scenes from the classic movies.

“If you ask me, a garment is not, and never will be, just a piece of fabric. It’s rather the means through which we are able to unfold who we really decide to be, it’s how we shape our desires and the ultimate sense of our staying. That’s why I’ve always imagined my collections as films able to convey a cinematography of the present: a score of stories, eclectic and dissonant, that can sacralize the human and its metamorphic ability.” - Alessandro Michele
Imagine if Kubrick was still alive... a film with costumes designed by Michele?
