Having trouble sleeping or can’t even remember the last time you had a good night’s sleep? Yes, I know the feeling. Spending hours turning from one side to another in bed and no matter how exhausted you are or how hard you try, nothing can make you fall asleep… Many of us have gone through that unpleasant experience, whether this is caused by work or health-related anxieties, etc… The factors which can affect our sleep are endless.
According to a research from the National Center for Biotechnology Information: 35.2% of all adults in the U.S. report sleeping on average for less than seven hours per night. And it’s even worse to us women, according to a National Library of Medicine study about sex differences in sleep: “women have a lifetime risk of insomnia that is as much as 40% higher than that of men.”
I’ve been there and I’ve tried a lot of different tactics to help me overcome bad sleeping habits and insomnia. Today I’m here to share with you 5 secrets and tips I have and use to help me relax, unwind and finally achieve that perfect night’s sleep.
5 - White Noise apps
Not only does noises can wake you up, but they can also affect your sleep quality once you do fall asleep, right? One way to minimize the impact from outside sounds is by using white noise, have you tried? White noises are capable of generate sounds that mask barking dogs, clanky radiators, and late-night parties that can leave us anxious, seething, and awake.
I found out that listening to a constant soothing sound helps me not just relax but also have an uninterrupted sleep. My favorite is the sound of the rain, but there are a lot of options of background sounds for sleep like ocean waves, bird and frog sounds, crackling fireplace, etc. You also can chose from investing in a white noise machine or just download a white noise app on your smartphone.
4 - Essential oils & scented candles
I’ve mentioned here before about the power of the aromatherapy. An easy way of renewing and making your home and in this case, your bedroom, even more comfortable and cozy is using scents. Did you know home fragrances not only make your place smell good, but also spread soothing vibes that give it a truly relaxing ambiance?
Using essential oils to improve the energy of your room is one of the common ways to achieve wellness, keeping you relaxed and calm throughout the night.. Incorporating high-quality essential oils into your wind-down routine signals to your body that rest is not just allowed, it’s expected. Brands like Plant Therapy offer expertly crafted blends designed specifically to promote calm, relaxation, and deeper sleep cycles. Their lavender, chamomile, and “Sleep Aid” synergies are formulated to quiet the mind and ease the transition into rest.
Diffuse a calming blend 30 minutes before bed, or apply a diluted roll-on to pulse points—think of it as fragrance with intention.
Pair this with softly scented candles—notes like sandalwood, vanilla, or amber create a cocooning effect that turns your bedroom into a sensory escape. The goal isn’t just to fall asleep faster, but to romanticize the ritual of going to bed.
3 - Silk pillow cases
Silk is a 100% natural fabric that’s not only super-soft and comfortable but actually can help us reduce allergy symptoms and skin irritation while we sleep. Besides, unlike cotton, silk doesn’t drink up expensive creams and works to smooth hair overnight, making it also a secret beauty weapon.
Your pillow is where alignment meets skin health—and upgrading it can quietly transform both your sleep quality and your morning glow. The Sleep and Glow Pillow is designed to reduce sleep lines, support proper neck alignment, and maintain a more elevated, sculpted sleeping position. It’s a subtle shift with visible results—especially if you’re side or stomach sleeping.
For pillowcases, think breathable, skin-first fabrics. Silk and TENCEL™ blends reduce friction, helping to prevent hair breakage and minimize irritation while you sleep.
I also like to spray a few essential oil drops on my pillows for a great night’s sleep.
2 - Linen sheets
It’s about time to believe and understand that bed sheets really make the difference in how we sleep. Like the case of the silk pillow case, the sheets you choose doesn't just impact the quality of your sleep - it can also affect your allergies, skin, and body temperature.
Investing in high-quality bedding isn’t indulgent, it’s strategic. Collections like Parachute Home focus on elevated essentials, including TENCEL™ linen blends that are breathable, moisture-wicking, and incredibly soft.
Overheating, discomfort, and rough textures can subtly disrupt sleep cycles—even if you don’t fully wake up. Lightweight, temperature-regulating fabrics help maintain a consistent sleep environment, which is key for deeper, uninterrupted rest.
Also, it’s naturally resistant to odor buildup, exceptionally durable, and only gets softer with time.
1 - The perfect mattress (for you)
Of corse the mattress you sleep on is the most important thing to think about when it’s time to bed! And as today the industry offers a big range of different products, I’m sure there’s one mattress that’s perfect for you and your comfort ideal.
There’s no substitute for trying out mattresses in person, but you can take GhostBed’s 3-minute Mattress Quiz to get your personalized recommendation. Speaking of GhostBed, have you checked their comfort bundles yet?
If you’re serious about optimizing sleep quality, smart sleep technology is redefining what “a good mattress” even means. The Eight Sleep Pod Cover transforms any mattress into a high-performance sleep system, with temperature regulation, sleep tracking, and dual-zone climate control.
Translation: no more waking up too hot, too cold, or just… off. Temperature is one of the most underestimated disruptors of sleep, and this kind of technology actively adjusts throughout the night to keep your body in its ideal sleep state.
Now, tell me, loving my secrets? Share your thoughts and… another very important tip to a better night’s sleep: try to relax in a tech-free way for 30 minutes or so before turning the lights out.
Good night & sweet dreams!
