Creating Art & Sharing Love Since 2009

Maria, Maria

"Maria, Maria, é um dom, uma certa magia
Uma força que nos alerta..."

Since 2016 in front of one of the most important and respected fashion houses in the world, Maria Grazia Chiuri - the first female creative director to lead Dior - surprises at every new collection release and she did it again with the Croisière 2022 presented last month in Athens.

As our friend, Milton Nascimento, says in the song above : Maria is magic, is a force - a creative force. With her feminist messages, she became an inspiration model to every girl out there that dreams to work with fashion and that's why she's our #WCW today on the blog ❤︎

Coming out of a sequence of fashion shows (which looked like cinematic masterpieces) presented entirely online thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, Maria Grazia unveiled a magnificent Dior Cruise show - monumental in all kind of ways. The location, the music and of course, the clothes: light, comfortable and yet very elegant. Take a look at our favorite looks here:

Just in time for the Olympic Games (as Tokyo 2020 begins in July 23), the Dior Cruise collection couldn't be more up to date!

The spot chosen for the show was the "birthplace of sports, the Panathenaic Stadium, where Ancient Greeks worked up a sweat circa 330 BC. “I decided to show here because I’m interested in clothes as a way of giving freedom of movement,” Chiuri explained, echoing our post-pandemic desires. A reminder that restrictions are by no means history, ongoing travel complications meant that her show was largely attended by local press and clients, who were treated to a Greco-electro performance by the Greek-American singer Ioanna Gika." Breathtaking location and views... even the moon came out to play!

One thing I don’t agree and I must let it clear here, I'm totally against fireworks. You know, I have 4 dogs at home and I see how the noise affects them in the worst possible way just I believe it's important to make a statement here on the blog and ask kindly, please, stop the fireworks at the end of the shows.

Watch the show here:

Chiuri was inducted into the Légion d’Honneur in 2019, her award presented by France’s minister of gender equality for Chiuri’s work in putting feminism at the fore of Dior’s design.

To finish, more Milton Nascimento: "É preciso ter sonho sempre"
Keep dreaming, Maria! We'll keep watching!
