Is it too much for a Sunday at the museum? Perhaps. But when has that ever stopped a good outfit?
November is here, and my fall/winter wardrobe is beginning to take a slightly more glamorous turn. The days are getting colder, party season is approaching, and apparently I'm already finding excuses to introduce a little sparkle into my daytime outfits.
For a recent Sunday museum visit, I went for a combination of strong silhouettes, unexpected color and a touch of evening glamour — because everyday dressing can be fun, too.
The Maxi Leather Trench: A Fall/Winter Statement
The starting point was my maxi black leather trench coat. Few pieces make quite the same impression. Dramatic, timeless and effortlessly cool, it brings an architectural quality to an outfit while providing that extra layer of warmth November calls for.
I love how a long leather coat transforms even the simplest wardrobe staples into something more polished. It is one of those investment-style pieces that can take you from daytime gallery visits to evening plans without missing a beat.
Stirrup Leggings Are Having a Moment Again
Underneath, I wore black stirrup leggings — a silhouette making a very welcome return to the fashion conversation. Once associated with vintage fitness wardrobes and the polished dressing of the 1980s and 1990s, stirrup leggings are back, and I love their ability to create a clean, elongated line. They work particularly well with longer coats and structured outerwear, making them an interesting alternative to classic black trousers.
Fashion does love a comeback. Sometimes it just needs a little time in the archive.
A Pop of Blue & White
To break up the all-black foundation, I added my blue suede handbag from Teddy Blake New York. The colour brings a softer contrast to the leather and gives the outfit a little personality without disrupting its minimalist feel.
White pumps completed the look. A slightly unexpected choice for a November outfit, perhaps, but I love how they brighten the darker palette and make the whole combination feel more intentional.
A Little Preview of Party Season
And then, the finishing touch: a crystal necklace from Carat London. Yes, a crystal necklace for a Sunday at the museum. Why not? With November officially here, my mind is already wandering towards festive dinners, Christmas celebrations and all those occasions that call for a little extra shine. This was my subtle preview of party-season styling — bringing evening jewellery into a daytime outfit and letting it have its moment.
I particularly like the contrast between the dramatic leather trench and the delicate sparkle of the necklace. A little tough, a little glamorous, and not particularly interested in following the rules.
So, Is It Too Much for a Museum Day? I say absolutely not.
A museum visit is a lovely excuse to get dressed, explore beautiful spaces and spend a Sunday surrounded by art, architecture and inspiration. Why not make the outfit part of the experience?
My Fall Winter 2026 styling formula: strong outerwear, streamlined basics, one unexpected colour and a little sparkle — even before the party invitations arrive.
