Creating Art & Sharing Love Since 2009

Couturier du Rêve

Paris, França

Musée Des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, September 22, 2017

Last week traveling to Paris, I had the lucky and the privilege to visit the most acclaimed exhibition of the moment >> 'Christian Dior, Couturier du Rêve' helded by the Musée des Arts Decoratifs to celebrate the 70 years of the maison Dior creation!

It was certainly a dream and I want to share everything here with you :)

"This lavish and comprehensive exhibition invites visitors on a voyage of discovery through the universe of the House of Dior’s founder and the illustrious couturiers who succeeded him: Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and, most recently, Maria Grazia Chiuri."

The man himself! The first designer to found a luxury industry >> hats off to the father of the Haute Couture!!

The New Look and the return to femininity, sumptuousness, and indelible Parisian-ness that reverberates through fashion to this day..

"The selection of over 300 haute couture gowns designed between 1947 and the present day has a unifying thread of emotions, life stories, affinities, inspirations, creations and legacies. Alongside the dresses is the most wide-ranging display to date of atelier toiles and fashion photographs, as well as hundreds of documents, including illustrations, sketches, documentary photographs, letters and notes and advertising documents, and fashion accessories, including hats, jewellery, bags, shoes and perfume bottles."

"From the start, Christian Dior and the art world have been inseparable entities. His first official foray into art was as the owner of a small gallery in Paris in the 1920s, where the exhibitions he organized helped to introduce a new generation of artists like Alexander Calder, Salvador Dalí, and Alberto Giacometti to the world. This experience was also very influential to Dior as a designer: "When he become a couturier, he was quoting his former artist friends and he was creating dresses that were an homage to these artists," explains curator Florence Müller."

"An array of paper flowers was installed like a hanging garden by Wanda artists to depict Christian Dior’s passion for flowers and gardens - one which has proved a constant inspiration for the brand’s creations. They bloom alongside floral dresses by Christian Dior and his successors, right up to Maria Grazia Chiuri, all against a backdrop of artworks by Claude Monet and Marc Quinn."

Did you know? Dior was the first fashion house to create a signature perfume!
The first one was Miss Dior, in 1947.

"Right from when it first opened its doors, the House of Dior has always been a favorite of the goddesses of the silver screen, winning them over with bold and graceful designs that bolster their star status. Rita Hayworth, Marlene Dietrich, and Olivia de Havilland very quickly chose Christian Dior as the couturier who could best convey the Hollywood dream. The Dior creations form the different facets of magnificent femininity, embodied on red carpets right round the world by Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren, Isabelle Adjani, Monica Bellucci, and Sharon Stone."
